Why do balls burst on inflation or remain soft on inflation?

If you over inflate a ball than the recommended pressure it will burst or if you under inflate it, it will be soft. Use the manufacturer’s recommended air pressure that is printed on the ball. Most of the soccer balls have recommended pressure of 6 to 8 lbs or PSI (Pounds per square inch) or 0.6 or 0.8 BAR. It is advised that you always use a pressure gauge to measure the amount of the pressure while inflating the ball.

What is the right way to inflate a ball ?

Place a couple of drops of glycerine oil or silicone oil into the valve. This improves the life of the valve and also eases it for insertion of the inflation needle. Moisten the inflation needle before the insertion, for moistening you may use the silicon oil.

How to convert BAR/KGS to PSI or LBS

If your soccerball has printed 0.6 Bar on it, then for converting it into PSI, follow the following formula

= 14.5037 x 0.6

= 8.7 PSI

If you want to convert PSI or LBS to BAR (KGS)

= 0.68948 x the amount of PSI (LBS) printed on the ball
